I just want to be happy.
This didn’t turn out the way I wanted it too. Too much bread and not enough pudding. I’m not surprised though because it seemed that way as I added the croissants to the egg and milk mixture. Not that it wasn’t any good, my housemate happily had seconds. Can’t beat a warm flakey crust!
This was also the first time I tried a water bath. I don’t know if that actually made any difference…
The recipe is similar to bread pudding recipes that use french bread. I’ll tweak the recipe next time and hopefully I will have better luck. Inspired by the bread pudding I had at Chaya’s happy hour.
I was on my way to Union Square after a very filling lunch with my friend at the Green Bar in the Embarcadero Center when I stopped mid-sentence upon seeing this.
“It’s the the crème brûlée cart!” Of course we had to try it! Laden with left over lunch and Miette macarons and all.
“Featured in The New York Times, Sunset Magazine, The Food Network and many more unexpected places,” I’d wanted to try since it first created a stir on Yelp. The crème brûlée man even gave us sweet covers for our treats.
We promptly found a place to sit across the street and dug in.
Caramelized goodness. Dark chocolate peppermint and vanilla bean.
It was a good day.
